Health benefits of Flaxseeds

We are often asked about different food items we sell and what they can be used for so I thought I would do some research on some of our products and enlighten myself and customers on the health benefits of some of them and how they can be used. I thought Iā€™d start with Flaxseeds (Linseed) as I have heard good things about them.

Health Benefits of Flaxseeds (Linseed)

Flax seeds are very high in fibre, provide good amounts of protein, rich in fat and heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

Flax seeds are one of the richest known dietary sources of lignans. Flax lignans are good for heart health they reduce blood pressure, regulate blood cholesterol and may reduce the growth of several cancers (breast, uterus, and prostate cancer).

Flax seeds contain soluble fibre, which may promote weight loss by reducing hunger and decreasing cravings.

Flaxseed is versatile and easy to add to yogurt, salad, smoothies, baked goods, and numerous other foods. It also makes an excellent addition to pancake batter, homemade veggie burgers, and even overnight oats. It can be used in its whole seed form or ground.

Also did you know you can make your own hair gel from Flaxseeds too this is something a customer of ours did and she was very impressed with the end product.
